This first day of school was growing immune to me. Apart from ensuring that Z had woken up and gone to school on time, and getting X to eat breakfast, I was so chill and nonchalant that I did not even take pictures for X.
I guessed we were all so stoned from post holidays that impact of starting school did not hit the kids, just like the year before.
This year, Z started P2 and X started N2. X seemed so excited over this primary school adventure that he was already planned for his own P1.
He asked Z to be his recess buddy in a few years’ time. Z explained how he could bring X around to buy food and helped him. Parting shot, Z told X,”You must pay with your own money. I cannot pay for you.” So it seemed, money before kinship.
